Title :
Abstract : During four nights, samples of moths were taken with different types of light traps in the Kakamega Forest (Eastern Kenya). On a total of 255 species, 129 were identified to the species level, 65 to the genus level, and 61 to the family level. A proposal is made to publish tables of numbers of species or corresponding percentages per family, even if all specimens are not fully identified. Such tables, or the graphics produced from them, could possibly be used to characterise tropical forests. A note is added on the Tervuren collection as systematic tool.
